Abhyanga
Ayurvedic Oil Massage
Abhyanga is a traditional Indian herbalized oil massage with slow, light, repetitive strokes that promote circulation, lymphatic drainage, and nervous system support. Marma points (energy centers) are lightly held to balance energy. Abhyanga may be supportive for stress, anxiety, insomnia, chronic and acute pain, fatigue, and pregnancy/ postpartum. Appropriate for all genders and most ages.
Abhyanga is also restorative to the skin and hair, nourishing tissues and promoting elimination of metabolic wastes. This treatment includes a deluxe facial massage and hair oiling.
In Sanskrit, Sneha means both “oil” and “love”.
Oil is a conduit for warmth, slowness, and protection.
You can expect to feel nurtured and deeply relaxed after this luxurious ancient treatment.

Yes! In fact, this practice is highly recommended and traditionally practiced both before and after giving birth. Prenatally, the customized herbal oils help the tissues relax and open as your body changes and prepares for birth. Postpartum it adds warmth and containment to the body after the strenuous work of birth, and assists in tissue repair.
-
It is not recommended to receive Abhyanga during menstruation, if you are allergic to sesame or coconut, or have any open wounds or transmissible diseases.

~You will be wiped down at the end of the session, but oil will remain on your skin. Please wear or bring comfortable clothing that can get a little oily to wear after your session.
~This session typically includes work around the chest/ breast tissue for lymphatic drainage and energy points. Like all of my work, it’s up you whether you’d like to receive it.
~Head massage and hair oiling is also typically part of the session. If you choose to include this, make note that it’s recommended to leave the oil on the hair for a few hours up to overnight. The herbs in the oil will continue to work on your system as long as you leave it on. Please bring a hat or scarf that you’re okay with getting a little oily.
